Do you know the name of this children's book?
I don't remember much, but I think it is about a boy who goes into a forest and falls asleep against a tree and dreams about and indian or maybe he talks to the tree and the tree talks back telling him stories I really don't know much. I know we read it in the 5th grade and I really liked but I can't remember much about it.

Title of a Children's book about a Chinese boy with many names. ?
When I was a kid there was this book in the library of this boy with like, 9 first names. He was the eldest. He had a little brother whose name was like "Chang" or something. Well, the boy with like, 9 names falls down a well and the little boy goes to try to tell his mom and he can't say all the names like "so and so and so and so and so and so and so and so fell down the well" but he gets winded, and I think the kid dies? i'm not sure. Either way, the boys little name is the title of the book and I can't figure it out!

Porcupining:A prickly love story is about a lonley porcopine in a petting zoo--lol--who finds his true love.

Reply:There are several (woodland critters are a popular topic for characters) - do you remember anything about how hard the book was, how "cartoony" the illustrations were, whether it was a series, or the plot of the book(s)?
Little Critter is probably a pretty good bet - they were widely published, and did feature porcupines. They also had a cricket and a spider on each page. I belive they're by Mercer Meyer.

What was the children's book series that was named after vegetables? Rhubarb, Zucchini, etc.?
I was a child in the 80s if that helps!
What was the children's book series that was named after vegetables? Rhubarb, Zucchini, etc.?
Okay, Veggie Tales definitely didn't exist in the 80's...
I think that you are talking about the Munch Bunch. They were a series of books published until the mid-80's. I remember them from my early years too. The Munch Bunch were a group of unwanted vegetables, fruits, legumes and nuts who were swept to the corner of a shop but ran away together and set up home in and around an old, forgotten garden shed. There are a whole bunch of books in the series and a whole bunch of characters - I loved them as a kid.
If you want more info, I bet a google search would be useful.
Hope that helps.

This is a bit stupid but can anyone remember these children's books and perhaps tell me the names of them?
I had a series of books which I think may have been written by a well known author but my mum thinks that she bought them for like 拢1 in Woolworths (which would mean that no one would be able to help me probably!).
I can remember two of the stories:
1) A boy goes in the woods and finds a little house. He goes in, finds a pair of red shoes and puts them on. But he puts them on his hands or something and the shoes make him walk for miles on his hands because they have a spell on them. It turns out that they were a dwarf鈥檚 and he tells the boy that he should never take anyone鈥檚 things.
2) A boy loses his kitten, he鈥檚 sad so he goes looking for it in the woods and he finds some fairies and tells them what鈥檚 happened. The fairies make all the cotton buds from a cotton plant come alive into furry little kittens and the boy finds his kitten.
My memory is a bit off but I鈥檇 appreciate it if you could tell me the name of the books or the author. Or just tell me if any of this rings a bell, at least I鈥檒l know it wasn鈥檛 just me who read them lol.
There was another book that wasn鈥檛 part of the series but it was about a boy and a girl who would go out to play near the woods (it鈥檚 all about the woods lol) and they鈥檇 see a big white creature hiding behind the trees. They become friends with it or something 鈥?any ideas? The girl had a blue and white dress and blond hair.

Try posting that question here. They get amazing results, sometimes very quickly.

If this site doesn't suit you, suggest calling the reference librarian at a public library, in the children's section, and ask there. Those people are trained, have search tools, and know their books.

What's the name of children's movie (animation) from the 90s (probably early 90s)?
It was about a brother and sister. I don't remember the exacts AT ALL! They went to this circus ring (may not have been but that's how I'm remembering it). It was nighttime. This evil guy (tall) made them sign these contracts. He pricked their fingers and made them sign it in their blood. Seems like I remember them being in cages.

I vaugly remember that too... but I can't remember what it's called. Or even what it's about... damn it... Sorry. I have some sort of idea of what your talking about though.
Edit!
Yes! The Dinosaur movie. The person below me is right! I thought about the dino's but I couldn't remember the name of it or if I was even on the right track. Now I'm excited.

Reply:We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993)
voice cast: John Goodman, Rhea Perlman, Jay Leno, Charles Fleischer, Walter Cronkite, Julia Child, Kenneth Mars, Yeardley Smith, Martin Short
IMDb synopsis:
Captain New Eyes travels back in time in what is presumably the Late Cretaceous Period. He feeds dinosaurs with the names of Rex, Elsa, Dweeb, and Woog his Brain Grain cereal, which makes them intelligent, non-violent and gentle. They travel via spaceship to the 21st century, where they befriend a street-smart boy and a poor little rich girl. Louie and Cecelia get rooked into performing in a demented circus run by the scientist's evil brother, Professor ScrewEyes, and learn something about friendship. He has other plans for those dinosaurs. In addition, his demeanor of tapping into people's nightmares and a hypnotic stare render him a menace to be feared.

What is the name of a Children's Book...?
In the 60's or 70's there was a children's book that told a story of Mr. Green (I think) who lived in a row house. All of the houses were identical. Mr. Green wanted his house to be different. One day he painted his row house purple, if I remember correctly. It stood out from all of the other houses. The next day, all of the neighbors had painted their houses purple.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What is the name of a Children's Book...?
"Mr Pine's Purple House" by Leonard Kessler?
"Mr. Pine lived on Vine Street in a little white house." That's all fine and dandy, but there are 50 white houses on Vine Street, all in a line, and Mr. Pine can't tell which one is his! To distinguish his own abode, he decides to plant a little pine tree in front, but his neighbors like that idea so much, they do it, too. Even when he plants a bush next to his tree, everyone follows suit. Finally, Mr. Pine paints his house purple--and to his delight, no one else wants a purple house. His neighbors are inspired, however, to paint their own houses all different colors, their first break with conformity. ("'Yellow for me,' said Mrs. Green. 'Green for me,' said Mrs. Brown.")

Also, the main character needs to be a girl. I have the book "Sydney's Star" but i want to get more where the main character has the same name as my daughter.

How do you go about changing part of a child's name when you adopt?
We live in Illinois. My husband is adopting my 2 children from a previous marriage. My son is special needs and he knows his 1st name, current last name, and future last name. We want to eliminate his current middle name and make his birth name 1st name, current last name for the middle name, and then our married name. Our lawyer is telling us he THINKS a seperate name change process is needed. Is there anyone who knows for sure?
How do you go about changing part of a child's name when you adopt?
Who ever is filling out the adoption petition (case worker, attorney, yourself) there is a spot to fill out if you want the name change then when the adoption is complete you will receive the new birth certificate with you and your husbands names and you child's "new" name.
Reply:I think Angelina is right. In our state you contact the Bureau of Vital Statistics. There is a form to fill out.
However, we did not have to do that with our adopted children. The name change was written up in the adoption order. You might want to check with the attorney about that. Be sure he is someone who is experienced with adoption. You don't want any loopholes or gaps or reasons for the child to be hurt by his lack of experience.
Reply:Where I live it's just part of the adoption process. They refer in the papers to "the child known as ......., now known as ........." If there is no name change other then the surname then it stays the same. If you need/want to change the name then it's done at that time.
Reply:when i adopted my kids. my daughter did not want her name she changed it, my son did not want his middle name so that was changed also. and of course their last name was changed when we adopted them. we did not have any problems with this. that was in California
Reply:it's pretty much the same procedure as changing it when you get married..just go to town hall and request the papers, you will also have to call social security
Reply:I would assume that your adoption agency can help you with that.

My daughter's name is Sydney and I was wondering if anyone knew of any children's books where the main character is named Sydney with the exact same spelling? Also, the main character needs to be a girl. I have the book "Sydney's Star" but i want to get more where the main character has the same name as my daughter.
I am NOT up to getting a book personalized where you send away for it and they create it after their names.
Does anyone know of any children's books where the main character is named Sydney?

What is the name of that children's movie that involves a flying present, a red car and a watch dog?
The movie is live action combined with animation. The watchdog has a huge watch on its chest, and the main character -a boy- drives it around the cartoon world.
What is the name of that children's movie that involves a flying present, a red car and a watch dog?
...that's 1970's "The Phantom Tollbooth"....

What can be done about someone filing for EIC, using a child's name that really was not their dependant?
The child in question is eighteen and lives in her own
home with her handicapped brother...she wanted to
file her own taxes, but this someone has already claimed
her falsely to draw the much larger refund. Is it too late
to get this mess straightened out?
What can be done about someone filing for EIC, using a child's name that really was not their dependant?
It's unfortunately a common problem The 18 year old can file her return by mailing it in rather than electronically filing it. The IRS will send notifications to each person using that SSN on their return basically saying "prove it". It takes them a long time, but the IRS will make a ruling, give her her refund and ask for repayment from the party that tried to claim her.
Reply:If she isn't a dependent, she should go ahead and file a return claiming herself. She'll have to file by mail since someone has already claimed her, since an efile will reject.
She and the other person will each receive a letter from the IRS telling you that two people claimed the same person, and saying that whoever didn't have the right to the claim needs to file an amended return dropping the claim - then if nobody does, they'll investigate and decide who gets the exemption. The other person will have to pay back whatever he got by making the claim he wasn't entitled to, with interest and possible penalties.
Since the other person falsely claimed EIC by doing this, they will be banned from claiming EIC for a number of years in the future even if they are legally eligible.
Reply:notify irs
Reply:If you suspect that someone has willfully submitted a false tax claim you can report them directly to the IRS (www.irs.gov) and give them as much info as you can about this person. But if you do this, please know that the IRS will not take this lightly and this person will likely spend time in a federal prison. So before you act, know the consequences and follow your heart.
Reply:me and my husband have been dealing with the same issue over his daughter. the only thing you can do is file an amendment and have the tax preparer explain why on the amendment when they send it in.we even have a court order that says he gets to claim his daughter every other year and everytime we try to claim her she is already claimed. we have to wait an extra 8- 12 weeks to get the money back along with the headache of not being able to do anything about it. you can try talking to an attorney about it or try or call the irs and try to find out who claimed her. they might not tell you anything but just tell them that she is of age and there is no reason why someone should claim her. good luck dealing with the government

How early should I put my child's name down for school?
My daughter is nearly One, and I wondered how early we should consider putting her name down for school - or even looking at schools? And is there a procedure that has to be followed??
We are in the UK.
How early should I put my child's name down for school?
I'd wait until she's older, that way you'll know the type of personality she has and what type of school would suit her best. It will depend on the school when you need to put her name down.
Reply:yep, just check out what school you want your daughter to go to, and put her name down. she'll start at about three yrs old. all you have to do is go in and fill a form in.
Reply:Well you have to be atleast 4 to start preschool and 5 for kindergarden .... which is for the us not the uk
Reply:do it asap the earlier the better
Reply:I was told I should already have put my child's name on a school list, when she was 8 months old. The health visitor couldn't believe I hadn't. I thought she was nuts! Then, when I tried to get my child into playgroup when she was older, I couldn't.
So, I'd do it straightaway. Especially if you live in the city.
Reply:My health visitor told me to put my daughters name down for the school nursery at 2 then they tell you when you need to put the name down for school. (if it's part of the school)
Reply:a year before is soon enough, im a nursery teacher.
Reply:I would start now, schools in Uk seem to fill up really quickly, if there is a goods chool in your area I would suggest gong for a tour of the school and checking out its facilities and also look at other nearby possibilities, there is nothing worse than your child getting to the age that he/she will be ready for school only to find out the school has no places left,
Reply:sooner rather than later, by that i mean
look into it now
Reply:my health visitor told me to put my sons name down when he turned 2 so when your daughter turns 2 do it then
Reply:some schools are popular and hard to get in to so the sooner you put her name down the better the chance! you just need to contact the school and ask them if you can visit most schools and mainly the best ones are happy for you to go check out the school to see if you like it! then if you like it then you can out your childs name down at the school they will then write to you nearer the time to let you know if she has a place! you can put her name down at a few if you like then make the final decision when they write to you
Reply:I put my sons name down when he was born but I don't really think it makes much difference. The selection procedure is based on a few things:are you in their catchment area, what religion you are/are you church goers,if you have any other kids at the school.Usually you get a form from the education council the year before they are due to start school to fill in with your choice of schools.
Reply:Someone enlighten ME -- "putting her name down", is that a U.K. thing?
Here in the US, you simply take the child to pre-school or kindergarten when September of the appropriate year hits.
Personally, I think anything before 5 is way too young. My wife got informed that when our little Arthur hits three he can join "head start", and "a bus will even pick him up right at our door!" Sorry, but the picture of our little 3-year-old getting on a bus with total strangers and leaving for half a day... Not gonna happen!

What is the benefit of opening a savings account in my child's name?
What benefit will I get by putting money that I am saving for my child (college, wedding, whatever...) into a custodial account in my name and her name as the child, versus having it just in a savings in my name?
What is the benefit of opening a savings account in my child's name?
the main benefit is that the child can make up to 850 a year in interest without paying any tax on it. this is for any type of account. one little score for the working folk and a little less money for dear old uncle sam up till age 18, they dont even have to file it as long as total interest in child's name is less than 850 at 5%interest thats like 15000 in principal, tax free money u got to love that lol gl
Reply:The foreseeable benefit could be that the child would be legally entitled to that money when they became a legal adult if something happened to you between now and then. It may be held in a trust fund account until that time if that occured. In the meantime, otherwise, it would be gaining interest and they can access this when they are an adult as needed then.
IF it were just in your name and the unthinkable or unforeseen happened, then the state could disrupt what happens to it if you have no legal and binding will provision for them in this. Consider having a college fund set up as a trust fund instead as that will make it just with your name until that time comes. OR to have 2 seperate acounts, one with both names for their wedding expense, the other designated for college in JUST your name to ensure they don't take that out otherwise.
I would think tax laws are better for just as a child's trust fund.
Reply:If you are saving for college, keep the account in YOUR name.
There is a lot of good information on this site http://www.bankrate.com/brm/rate/college... And you can never start saving too early!

What is the purpose of placing an apostophe mark in a child's name?
I have a friend who works in the nursery at a rather large hospital for women and children and she always tells me about the unusual names people have been giving to their children. I was wondering if anyone knew why a parent might choose to place an apostrophe in a name? Is it something cultural or is it just someone trying to be unique? Some of the most recent names given to babies are as follows:
Ja'Nila
D'Ziyree
Mar'Quaylin
My'layzia
Jer'Manie
Pa'Jama (yes someone did name their child after their pajamas)
What is the purpose of placing an apostophe mark in a child's name?
I have no idea, but I know from experience (apostrophe in last name) that these poor children will always be lost in the computer. It makes it difficult to put their name on forms, computers, etc correctly. I am constantly lost in cyberspace because some systems but an apostrophe, some just leave it out, and still others add a space.
Reply:I think it is the parent's attempts at being different. I know that my soon to be little girl will be McKenzie Jolee. I LOVE the name Mackenzie, but it is overly popular now and I don't want her to be "Mac"....I like the different spelling.
But, yes, some names and spellings are a bit extreme.
Reply:Yeah, I don't get it either~ but it's really the parents' choice...
Reply:Parents do it thinking it makes the name look foreign and classy. When in reality it just looks silly and confusing.
This is why an apostrophe was used in a name historically:
Irish surnames often contain an apostrophe after an O, for example O鈥橰eilly. This arose from a rendering of the Irish 脫.
Some Scottish and Irish surnames use an apostrophe after an M, for example M鈥橤regor. The apostrophe here may be seen as marking a contraction where the prefix Mc or Mac would normally appear. (Note, however, that in earlier and meticulous current usage, it is 鈥?鈥?a kind of reversed apostrophe that is sometimes called a turned comma, which eventually came to be written as the letter c, whose shape is similar.)
French and Italian surnames sometimes contain apostrophes, e.g. D鈥橝ngelo. Other times, foreign names that would have used an accented character have an apostrophe substituted, e.g. DuPre鈥?for du Pr茅.
Reply:Cultural differentiation. The names don't have any real historical or linguistic meaning- other than to ensure unemployment in the next generation.
Reply:I don't know. Personally I think it's ridiculous.
I feel sorry for the kids given those names. They're awful!
Reply:I think some parents think it's cool and unique. But it's not cool at all.
Reply:An apostrophe usually denotes a missing letter... I think that in the case of unusualy names, it's just a little bit excessive, most of the names are made-up.
Reply:Those are retarded names. They look weird, misspell, and hard to pronounce. They are awful and terrible.
Reply:The pupose is to make sure it is pronounced correctly
Example=
D'Andre
His name should be pronounced "D" then Andre
However Dandre looks like an awful name and some people would pronounce it "Dan-dre"
~Sarah
Reply:usually it's when you combine two names, like Jamie and Lynn = ja'lynn
I think parents do it because they don't want their kids to become president.

Can anyone tell me the name of this children's book?
When I was about seven years old (approx. 1973) I remember being read a book at school - a chapter per day - about a purple octopus named Cully. Can anyone tell me what this book is called? I can't remember anything else about it! I have tried to Google it, etc., but to no avail. Any help appreciated, as I would love to read it now and find out what it was all about.
Can anyone tell me the name of this children's book?
Loganberry Books' "Stump the Bookseller" page identifies (scroll down to C87) a book about Cully and an Octopus as "The Pirates in the Deep Green Sea' by Eric Linklater.
Whether this could possibly be the one you remember I don't know. If not, you could try posting your question at What'sthatbook.com. They get amazing results, often very quickly.

"For this is a tale of fantasy- of talking octopodes, crabs, herring, cod, etc., and the heroes of Davy Jones' Locker and their pirate enemies - as they battle for control under the sea. Through Gunner Boles and his octupus, Cully, young Hew and Tim learn of the conspiracy of the pirates to untie all the regulation knots that hold the latitudes and longitudes together under the water, and when their Father goes to bring their Mother home, they are up and away to adventure to foil Inky Poops and Dan Scumbril. They encounter mischievous Powder Monkeys, Cabin Boys, they are captured by the pirates, but are able to alert Davy Jones and his men in time to save Gunner Boles and Cully in their dangerous post. A fair supply of humor and rhymes (both of British vintage), a prerequisite of some knowledge of English naval history, and a matter of fact handling of the fairy tales ingredients, add up to a specialty book for more imaginative children. (Kirkus Reviews)"

Does anyone know the name of this children's book?
I don't remember much about it except that it has 3 sisters with rhyming names (maybe Marla, Carla, and Darla??) It also has a bear (prince?) who sleeps nearby at night.
Does anyone know the name of this children's book?
There's a brilliant short story called The Princess and the Bear by Orson Scott Card. But it's not a children's book. It's absolutely brilliant, though. Wish I could help more.

Can you name this children's movie?
I saw a children's movie a long time ago. Probably made in the late 80's or early 90's. It was a sing-a-long or a musical. A girl with multicolored stockings was the main character and her world was of colors I think. There may have been like purple people and blue people, etc. I think the town lost its colors or something and she had to get them back. I don't remember. It is driving me crazy. There was definitely a girl with multicolored stockings.

I'm writing a children's story and need a good name for a wolf?
Any ideas......He's a nice wolf.
I'm writing a children's story and need a good name for a wolf?
This always makes me laugh. This is YOUR creation - YOUR baby. YOU are the master of this universe.
And yet you want someone else to name the characters for you. I would never trust another person to name one of my books or any of my characters. I wouldn't even let someone else name my puppy! I wouldn't let anyone name my goldfish for me!
Let me explain how I name characters. www.behindthename.com is a great website. Not only can you choose names, but you learn the meanings as well. I like choosing names that suit the character's personality -- not just cute sounding.
For surnames, I use the US Census Bureau list of surnames from most common to least common (Smith, Jones, and so on.)
I keep both websites bookmarked for quick access.
I also keep two baby books on my reference shelf right at my right elbow. I love the Anne Geddes one with those gorgeous baby photos.
A lot of people use different methods. Some use the phone book. I know one author who likes to look through the names in the credits of movies. I know another who picks out parts of names from her childhood. Whatever works for you.
But I seriously believe that you are the one doing the writing and you are the one doing the character study and you should be the one naming them. This is your creation! Don't turn that over to strangers! This is a part of your character study and research. Choosing names for your characters.
By the way, I don't always get it right. I wrote a whole book once with one name for my lead female character that I thought was perfect. When I finished my rewrite, I realized I hated it. One click of find and replace and she had a new name. No big deal.

How can I add my child's name in the wedding invitation, in a unique way?
I am getting married for the second time %26amp; I want a way to put my son's name onto the wedding invitation. My fiance %26amp; I are paying for the wedding ourselves %26amp; both want to incorporate him into the invite.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance
How can I add my child's name in the wedding invitation, in a unique way?
Gosh..never saw that before...but you could say Mr. (your son's name) would like to invite you to the marriage of his mother and so and so.
Reply:This sort of depends if your parents are "giving you away" on your invitation. Do you know what I mean? Will it say John and Donna Smith and Joe and Jane Jones are pleased to announce the wedding of (you and your fiance's name)? If NOT, you could have it say XXX (your sons name) is pleased to announce the upcoming wedding of his mother XXX and XXX (your fiance). OR if your parents names are going to be on there, you could just add him to that part of it.
Reply:I see people saying to word it "together with their son" I am assuming that your fiance is not the father. So you couldn't word it like that. There really is no good way to word it. I've never heard of putting children's names in the invitations, and it wouldn't be proper etiquette. You could instead include him in the ceremony, and more in with the wedding, but I wouldnt suggest putting his name on the invitations.
Reply:When My mom got married again she used us kids mames to say we were proud to announce the marriage of her and my step dad. Then at the wedding my Brother And I walked her down the isle, and my sister was a bridesmaid, then when they asked who gave her away all 3 of us said we do. So we all were a big part of it and it made us feel better about her getting married again.

Reply:You can't really say "with our son, Johnny" because you will be deliberating hurting your ex-husband, or if you are a widow, his family. Weddings are for joy, not for being insensitive towards anyone and your son knows that this is not his bio father. Probably the best thing you can do is say "Jane Smith and Rod Brown, along with Johnny Smith, invite you...." - or- Johnny Smith invites you to attend the wedding of his mom, Jane Smith, to Rod Brown." People you are inviting know that you have a son from a prior relationship and you don't really need to have his name on the invite. Doesn't matter who is paying for the wedding. Why not just say "Jane Smith and Rod Brown invite you to attend their marriage at...." and the, during the exchange of the rings, have the officiant perform a little ceremony where Rod promises to accept Johnny as a part of you and treat him like a son. I have seen invites where a bride is older with a few kids and the invite said "The children of Mary Smith invite you to attend the marriage of their mother to Mr.Rod Brown ...." Again - doesn't matter who's paying the bills!

What was the children's book series called in which the main character was named Maggie?
i'm pretty sure her name was Maggie. she had long blond hair and she owned a cat that was white and named something like snowball or snowflake. she was a quarter native american and she always received advice from an old native american man who called her his papoose. i read these books about 8 years ago when i was a kid so they might be a little old.

How to change birth certificate to add surname to child's name in India?
I am in Chennai. I got my daughter's birth certificate from Nagercoil, where she was born. In birth certificate my daughter's name was written against child's name field, and my name was written against Father's name field. I want my daughter's name to have, my name added at the end. Please let me know what is the procedure for doing this. In her school admission they say, her name will be as in the birth certificate only and they will not add surname unless it is in birth certificate. Please help....Thanks.
How to change birth certificate to add surname to child's name in India?
I think the best thing for you to do is contact someone in your country that has the correct knowledge. Do you have the equivalent of "Births, Deaths and Marriages" in India? They are usually a government department that deal with all those sorts of enquiries.
I imagine you will need the permission of both parents to change your daughters name such as a signature to signify you both agree to the name change
Also most name changes require money to be paid for such things as administration costs and the need for a new birth certificate to be issued.
I think the sooner you get it changed the better. Good luck

I need to know the name and place where I can find a children's song about fish?
There is a kids song where the fish keep getting bigger and bigger. You first clap your hands together, then you clap your forearms together then you clap your whole arm together.
I need to know the name and place where I can find a children's song about fish?
I think you're talking about "Baby Shark"...
Baby shark doo-doo, doo-doo-doo (4x) - you touch your pointer finger to your thumb on the beat.
Then you do Mama Shark (hands), Daddy (arms), Grandpa (arms, fingers in so it looks like no teeth)... there are a lot of other verses that people do, to. If you Google "Baby Shark" you can find most of them. There's also a video.

Name of children's book from the 80's that had a Wishing Well and a Custard River in it?
I have been trying to find out the name of a kids book from my childhood that had a storyline about some teapots (I think) that went to a magic land where everything was made of sweets and nice food, in fact the teapots I think ended up changing into food and then one of them fell in a custard river and almost went over a custard waterfall (!). I cannot remember who wrote this book or what it was called and I'd like to see if it's still in production for a present. I'm pretty sure there was a wishing well involved which is why they ended up in this food land. I'd really appreciate any help, it's driving me nuts!
Name of children's book from the 80's that had a Wishing Well and a Custard River in it?
Could the book be "Dribblesome Teapots and Other Incredible Stories" by Hunter Norman? Or possibly "Beauty and the Beast: The Teapot's Tale" by Justine Norman?
If neither of these books are the one you're looking for then you may want to visit this website: http://whatsthatbook.com/
It's a neat website. You give them as much info as you have on the book you're looking for, and they'll do their best to find it for you. Try them, they're a totally free service.
Good luck in your book search and happy reading! :-)

Does anyone know the name of the children's game that has hands to 'slap' at cards and guess a monster?
The game is something like this: There are cards that have different monsters on it. One card is chosen at the beginning to be the monster and all the other kids have to guess what monster was chosen. The rest of the cards are placed face up so that everyone can see them. Each child gets a montser hand stick and slaps a card so the card sticks to the hand. The person who knows what the monster is says either yes or no to see if the card matches something on the monster (either the head, body, or feet).
This is something like the way the game is played; a few details may be off. If anyone knows the name of the game, can you please tell me.

What happens if I reverse two letters of my child's name on tax returns?
I was working late at night, and did not realize that two letters of my child's first name had been reversed until after my tax returns were E-filed. The social security number is right. Do I need to ammend the tax returns, or will they still go through?
What happens if I reverse two letters of my child's name on tax returns?
It would not go through, the IRS will reject. The information has to match what is on the Social Security card. REJECT
Reply:Probably nothing. As with most tax mistakes, the IRS doesn't pick up on them. If they do happen to notice, you'll recieve a notice that there was an error and have to go back and fix it, tha'ts all. It will put off getting your tax return a few weeks, but that's it.
I used the same program for three years on my computer for my taxes, this year when I went to update it, I noticed my SSN was wrong the whole time.
Reply:Odds are nothing will happen. It is the social security number that is important and millions of women file taxes using a married name and never bother to change their SS card.
I once received my refunds and I had the wrong social security number on the tax form. Months later I was sent a letter and had to sign and return it.
Don't worry.
Reply:It may reject, the name on the social security card must match what you put on the return.
Reply:You do not need to do anything.
My experience is that the IRS uses Social Security Numbers to track people, not names or spelling.
I fill out forms for employees and submit forms to the IRS. Employees have sometimes presented fraudulent documents, sometimes have presented documents with improper names......plus I鈥檝e made an occasional mistake. Due to this, I have at times reported improper names, middle names instead of first names, and incorrect Social Security Numbers.
The only time I'll ever get a notice from the IRS is if the SSN is not correct, the IRS has never responded to an incorrect name. Therefore, I don't think you'll have any problem at all.
Reply:Let me tell you a story about a boy the hospital accidentally named "Kamon" when writing an 'R' less than neatly. His mother and father had lots of fun in the social security office, the human resources office, and other places, when trying to explain his real name.... He couldn't get a social security number till it was corrected, as it was written correctly on other documents ( in the parents' writing.) It was a pain...and annoying to have people act like you were the idiot who couldn't spell "Ramon" or like you were trying to pass another child off as yours or whatever crazy thing they acted like you were trying to do....
If, for some reason, your tax return should be audited, or looked over for other purposes such as to receive any kind of assistance, then you might have some 'splaining to do. Other than that, I don't see the issue. You may be able to go online or call a hotline to fix the tiny error.
Reply:As long as the social security number is right, it isn't that big of a deal, I am sure noone will even notice. It is all numbers with the IRS.
Reply:I don't know about this. You may want to call the IRS and tell them. When my child was first born, I accidently transposed 2 numbers in the social security number. I received a letter from the IRS in July to call them. Our refund was delayed by 3 months.
Reply:I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as the SS number is ok.

What is the name of this children's book?
It's a book about a spider (or maybe even a fly) that goes to the house of another bug. The bug invites her for dinner, and at the end of the story he ends up eating her. The pictures in the story are in black and white (I think). It's a younger children's picture book.
What is the name of this children's book?
"The Spider and the Fly"
"Will you walk into my parlor?" said the spider to the fly;
"'Tis the prettiest little parlor that ever you may spy.
The way into my parlor is up a winding stair,
And I have many curious things to show when you are there."
"Oh no, no," said the little fly; "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

Can anyone know of a children's book about a little girl possibly named Katey who loved to swing ? ?
I probably wore this book out taking it weekly from my elementary school library in 1962 or 1963. It was most likely a fairly old book at that time. The main character was a little girl who loved to swing on a rope swing probably in her backyard. I think she may have fallen off the swing as part of the story. It had great illustrations.

Reply:I don't know what state you are in, or exactly what your situation is, but my daughter's last name is hyphenated (obviously my last name and her dad's last name) and it hasn't always been that way. I just changed it by ammending her birth certificate. Hope this helps! Good luck.
Need the name of a children's book of stories - one was Little Suck-A-Thumb, one was On Top of Spaghetti. Help
It was a compilation of stories in a big huge book; these are just the two I remember. I had the book as a kid in the 80's. The book I'm looking for is NOT Der Struwwelpeter.

Is it Illegal to set up phone service in your child's name and if so How long will you go to jail?
My son's mother had a phone in his name and the account was sent to collections for $140 . My son is 7 years old. Does anyone know someone who has been caught doing this? What happened?
Is it Illegal to set up phone service in your child's name and if so How long will you go to jail?
hahahaha ur son's mother? isnt that u.. lol ur going to jail
ok sry i read ur Q again, ur the dad! the cool dad
Reply:Pay the bill and get out of the problem. They give you the phone too. If your son is disable and you need this phone it could be account for right. Do not use him.
Reply:You're the dad?? I doubt anyone would go to jail, pay the bill!
Reply:That would be identity theft, larceny by fraud and perhaps a few other charges. Its going to be very difficult for this child to get credit later in life. He's going to go through a million procedures just to clear that.....and I'd bet there are more things than just the phone in this poor kids name.
Reply:identity theft. his credit is now terrible. see ya in jail.
Reply:If his monther is doing it, I would go to a lawyer and see what you can do! Good luck!
Reply:technically you are obtaining credit by fraud. i doubt they will file it but you had better be very careful

Does anyone know the name of this children's book?
I can't recall most of it but, there's babies and rain and a old couple I think. I know the raindrops in the story turn into babies. And the illustrations were just wonderful. It would be a great help if you think you know what I'm talking about.

Go to the children's section of a book store and ask an employee. They will probably know. The children's librarian may know, too.
Sadly I do not :(

I was wanting to get a tattoo with my 2 children's name...i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions...?
my friend got her babys foot print (real) tated on her with his name in the middle maybe they are older so get hands or get something that represents both of them with their name in the middle
I was wanting to get a tattoo with my 2 children's name...i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions...?
Have th kids write their names and have the artist make a transfer from that.
Reply:my advice: dont get one, they look ugly and hurt. they ruin your skin. they are permanent.
Reply:I saw someone that got their kids' signatures. It was cute, but depending on how old they are, their signatures will change. Maybe something having to do with their birthstone colors or zodiac signs? If they are both girls, flowers or butterflies could be nice. Maybe you could use their initials to make a cool symbol or something like that.
Their footprints at birth is a cute idea, though I've seen it a lot.
Reply:have their two names be the outline of a heart.

Hi!can you give me some names..of publishing houses who accepts ''unsolicitated manuscripts''?for children's?
..books?
i am far away from america..england..etc..
most of them..say they don't accept unsolicited manuscripts....but how can i wait to be solicited if they don't know who i am..
Hi!can you give me some names..of publishing houses who accepts ''unsolicitated manuscripts''?for children's?
What you need to do is identify publishers who deal directly with authors, rather than through literary agents. Any recent edition of Writer's Market (for US) or Writer's and Artist's Yearbook (UK) should give you those publishers' names, what they're seeking, and specifics about how they prefer to be contacted.
Then you write a one-page query letter "selling" them your book, piquing their interest so strongly that they ask for you to send all or part of the manuscript. Then it's not unsolicited.
If everyone just sent in their unsolicited manuscripts, the publishers would be buried in them. Instead, they weed out which ones show promise through the query letter process.
Reply:Nobody is going to be interested in a manuscript from a person with such poor English skills. Instead of looking for a publisher, you need to focus on honing your craft and perfecting your English. Only then will a publisher even be willing to give you the time of day.

I know this is a strange one but. is there any children's writers with a initial between the names. e.g?
Richard E grant. They鈥檙e books must be atleast 70 years old
I know this is a strange one but. is there any children's writers with a initial between the names. e.g?
After glancing at my bookcase I can only see one name with an initial in the middle - Susan M. Coolidge, who wrote What Katy Did. Unfortunately, I don't know when it was written or first published, but since it is a classic I would guess it is at least 70 years old. I will try and find out for you.
Ok it was first published in 1872, but Susan M Coolidge was the pen-name of Sarah Chauncy Woolsey. I don't know if this matters or not.
Reply:Elinor M Brent-Dyer, wrote the Chalet School series set somewhere in Europe I think, possibly Switzerland, based (initially) on the adventures of a girl called Joey Bettany who eventually grows up, marries and has twins.
I couldn't swear to their exact age, but I read them when I was growing up in the 1970's and they felt old-fashioned to me even back then, far more so than e.g. the Famous Five books which were written in the 1950s. They may well be pre-War, which would put them around the era you're looking for.
Reply:E.Nesbit - cannot remember her first name. Excellent books. We grew up on them - The Treasure Seekers, The Phoenix %26amp; the carpet, Five children %26amp; it etc
Reply:J.M. Barrie
Reply:E Nesbit
Reply:Franklin W. Dixon. Pen name for the authors of The Hardy Boys series, which began in 1927.
Reply:I'm intrigued, but I can't do any better than Louisa M. Alcott and Franklin W. Dixon.
If you're trying to identify a particular book or author, do you have any more information you could share?
My other theory, given you mention a period of 70 years, is that it's something to do with copyright. If it is, bear in mind that in many cases copyright applies for 70 years after the death of the author, not 70 years after the book was published.
Reply:Must they also have ginger hair and have a wart behind their left ear? Why not throw in that their mother must have been an Argentinian midget too?
Not asking for much are you?
Reply:Elizabeth E Nesbitt
Reply:How about Jerome K. Jerome.......Three Men in a Boat.
Louisa M. Alcott........Little Women, Little Women Married and Little Men
Reply:Enid Blyton, some of the books are older than 70 years old and all of them are fantastic!!!
Reply:You'll only put me down as a pedantic old buzzard but you mean " are there " surely.
