I was wondering if my girlfriend and I could put both of our names on our child's birth certificate, in NJ?

My girlfriend and I want to have a child. We want to know if in NJ we can have both of our names on the birth certificate before getting married since we are a gay couple.

I was wondering if my girlfriend and I could put both of our names on our child's birth certificate, in NJ?
If you mean as mother and 'father', no, they won't let you. The father part is meant for the biological father, not for acting 'father'. While you may be able to legally get parental custody, only the birthmother and (possible) real father can be on the certificate (you could pretend to be male I guess, and they might put you on it under the father's name line...)
Reply:im suer you can name the child what you whant but you would both have to be there as not married x
Reply:yeah you can you havent heard of babys having 2 last names
