I don't remember a ton of details about this book (that's why I wish I could remember the name), but I remember really enjoying it. It had something to do with travelling to other worlds and perhaps took place in the future. There were two kids in it that were the main characters, but they also had a guide of some sort. I think I was in about fifth grade when I read it, so if you remember reading a similar book at about the same age, maybe that's it. I wish I could remember the title, so I could recommend it to my cousins who are at about the right age for something like that. If I'm not mistaken, the story line reminded me a little of "A Wrinkle in Time," but it wasn't quite so complex.
Does anyone remember the name of the children's novel with a picture on the cover with a silver orb in the sky
The cover and age-group makes me remember this tri-pod book (it was a series, i thin they travel only after the first book...)where these weird like robot (aliens?) like beam people up and change them when they reach a certain age and this one kid escapes and runs from them...I think he had a friend/adviser/guide? Anyway, I just thought of it because the cover is the big silver robot which is like a huge sphere with three legs. Any help?
Reply:Could it possibly be the Golden Compass trilogy? If not, it is still an EXCELLENT series, they are still some of my favorites of all time. Good for adults and children and young adults.
