What was the name of this children's novel?

I remember reading a story when I was young, most of which I can't remember now, but the one thing that stands out in my mind is that a large group of children played hide-and-go-seek at night. Does anyone out there know what book this is? I haven't thought of it in years, and suddenly it just popped up in my mind. I would have read it about 15 years ago, if that helps, but the book may have been older than that.

What was the name of this children's novel?
It could be "The Moon Jumpers" by Janice May Udry, with illustrations by Maurice Sendak. It's a beautiful book.

Reply:Sounds like "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis. There is a movie, maybe more than one about this novel and it is a wonderful story.
Reply:might be '45 and 47 ferris street'.
Reply:Was it horror? Might be the start of micheal myers when they played hide and go seek in a building, and it was deserted, and the group of school children played w/ the same rules and they all were late for supper. I remember because I saw a kid that was supposed to be hiding only he was still partially visible. You know, they do write horror stories for children, because I was in the kid's section and I found a vampire stories like v.c. andrews and I was horrified.
