Do you know the name of this children's film?

I want to watch this movie but I can't remember the title or the name of the characters. It's about a little boy who loses his parents and starts to run across the country. He finally stops at a town split in two, black people on one side and white people on the other. He then starts to slowly open the people's hearts to each other and end the racial tension. Can anyone help me identify this film?
