The story was about a family in 1950's London. The family went on holiday to the seaside where the grandmother met a man who she later married. One daughter went to grammar school. I remember an incident in which they bought a sledge but left it on an underground train bound for Mordern. I read the book when I was in my teens and would love to find it again but cannot remember the title or author.
