I'm trying to remember the name of a children's book I loved when I was a child?

I'm 20 years old so it was about 15 years ago that I adored this book. I cannot remember the name, but I'm sure it was about an old man and a pearl. Or something like that. Does anyone know of a children's book that might have something to do with the aforementioned topics?
